If you can't sleep at night, it's because you're doing something wrong during the day. Are you active at all? Do you eat healthy, 3 meals a day, drink a lot of alcohol or sugary beverages? Do you stare at a screen all day?
Sleep disorders can almost always be cured by changing daily activities. I'm sure someone will try to prove me wrong, but especially if it's only recent that you can't sleep, it's because you should look into doing something different or new through out the day to properly wear your body and mind out, making sleep easier to achieve.
Well, maybe there is some bodily function that physically retards your ability to rest, but in most cases sleep disorders are caused by people doing things wrong. Speaking from experience. It's very important for your health that you get good long sleep at night, so I would suggest seriously thinking about it. Which you're obviously doing, otherwise this thread would not exist.

Unless he misspelled "beats", I'm guessing you listen to them. Also, bin
aural?
Yes, he misspelled them. You're supposed to stick a tuber in each ear, and they act like earplugs. :p

My general belief.

May I suggest you get hold of Ulver's
Lyckantropen Themes album? Skip tracks 2, 9 and 10 and you have an album that's very neutral in sound- it's soft repetitiveness will lull you to sleep.

Both Motherwort and Valerian Root work particularly well as mild sedatives and both are natural herb remedies tested through the ages. If you're physically tired yet still can't fall off the edge into the oblivion, I find that properly narrated audiobooks help, it's kind of like your childhood bedtime story effect, but only if you find the right narrator and a good book.

Be Careful with melatonin if you decide to use it.
someone very close to me tried it over the summer, and collapsed the next morning.
If you're in "reasonably good health", that shouldn't happen, but for a lot of users (myself included) it gives you a heck of an experience with bizarre and vivid dreams, sometimes lucid, others not.

Depends on what kind of shape your root is in.

About 8 months ago I quit smoking and my need for 10 hours sleep decreased to 7. I've also discovered that caffeine was fucking me up, so now that I've quit, I'm finding it easier to keep a decent sleeping pattern.

I've given up on having normal human sleep anymore. I'm naturally nocturnal, but I work a job where I either work mornings or evenings depending on the day of the week. These days I just emulate my cat and take naps whenever I feel the need to supplement the 6 or 7 hours of regular sleep that I get.
