So my usual means of getting to sleep ( Laying down, shutting my eyes, etc. ) hasn't been cutting it lately. So, how does TTLG get themselves to sleep at night, other then a cheap bottle of absinthe?

My knockout cocktail: a tiny splash of whisky in your mint-tea, bit of honey.

Get a regular sleep schedule and stick to it even on week-ends, the body likes routine. Also let it prepare for the night. Don't websurf right before going to bed. Take a warm shower or bath, read a book. That kinda thing.

(
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Melatonin) Melatonin.
Don't use it as a sleeping medicine.
Use it to regulate your sleep pattern.
Not addictive.
No side effects.
I have a tendency to go to sleep at 6:00 AM and get up in the afternoon. I've had that since I was a teenager. My sister has it too. With melatonin it is easier to keep a better sleeping pattern.

melatonin
I take it when doing shift work or the like and it helps me go to sleep when i can't seem to otherwise get there
OnionBob on 13/2/2010 at 17:43

Blow it out your ass, Fingernail.
And do I need to rob a vet office or anything to get ahold of the Melatonin stuff? ( Also, it sounds like it might be a brain chemical. )

Melatonin has never done much for me. Then again, I seem to only be able to go to sleep during set schedules. Like if I normally go to sleep around 3, but try to go to bed around 1, I'll just toss and turn til 3 then finally drop off. The only way I've ever been able to reset my sleeping schedule is to get in 3 hours of sleep and try to trudge through the day, or stay awake for 36 hours or so and go to bed the next night.
I must have a hell of an internal body clock. I also always sleep exactly 7 hours every night.
