I have been told to go and see Sharn gra-Muzgob in the Balmora Mages Guild, but that character is not at the Balmora Mages Guild, so I seem to be stuck and not able to proceed. Since I've been playing the game a pretty long time, I'd rather not start over! Is it because I joined the Mages Guild and started working through those quests before I came back to start working on the Blades quests?
Can anyone recommend what I can do, or tell me what I did to cause this problem?

The disappearance of this character is a known bug, and a very common problem.
Nothing you did in the game caused her to vanish. As for the solution; depends if you're using X-Box or PC. If you're on PC, it's fairly simple. Open up the console using the ~ key while in game, and try typing in:
ra
This is the Reset Actor command, which will move all NPCs in the area back to their original positions. If this doesn't work, then this definitely will; in the console, type in:
placeatpc"sharn gra-muzgob"1,20,1
This will cause the orc lady to appear directly in front of you, wherever you are at that moment.
If you're on X-Box, I'm not sure there's any way round this one :(

Well damnit, I am using an XBOX and I love this game and I definitely do NOT want to start over because of the many hours so far!
