Okay, I have three questions.
1. Can you join more than one house?
2. If you can join more than one house can you take them all through to being clanmaster or whatever?
3. If you can't join more than one house what do you think is the best house for a 50%/30%/20% fighter/thief/mage?

1. No
2. N/A
3. Whichever one tickles your fancy? :cheeky:
Seriously, houses just tell you to do a task, they don't often specify HOW you must complete the task.
Use your skills to get the job done and you should be fine.
:D

Which one has the coolest stronghold?

Elenksis likes Telvanni. It is a huge twisted tree that grows from a twig, magically. IMO it is ugly, plus it is in the middle of nowhere. It wouldn't be so bad except that it is nowhere near anything but desert.
Hlaalu is buildings that are built. It is south of Balmora. I like it alot. It is a very nice walled compound with your own little villa. Location is everything.
Redoran is similar to Hlaalu. The location is pretty nice. Just north of Ald-Ruhn. A short walk into town and then you can catch a Silt strider or mage ride just about anywhere. My only complaint here is that Ald-Ruhn is farther away than I'd like. The stronghold is actually closer to Maar Gan.

Anyone have the location on the Telvanni stronghold (either closeness to city or exact axis points) I've revamped the Hlaalu and Redoran strongholds to have some more features in a mod, and still need to do the telvanni one, but I don't know the stronghold name or locale :p
Also I love the Redoran stronghold, as that seems to be what it really is. Set up on a highland with good sight (when there isn't a bloody ash storm :p)
Also its walled, and just looks more like a stronghold than the Hlaalu one does imo.

The Telvanni stronghold (it's more like an isolated wizards tower) is built on top of Uvirith's grave, which is just to the west of Tel Fyr. It's marked on your map (the big one that came with the game), and at least one quest will mark it on your in-game map.

Luckily us Mages have magic to teleport us places :p
Recall to stronghold then Divine Intervention to Sadrith Mora (next to mage guild and thus fast travel options to anywhere) works great for me. In fact that setup is much faster and more convenient than walking from Balmora to the Hlaalu stronghold.
It has a nice choice of dungeons in the area around it too (along with one of the vampire towns - should you decide to take up vampirism) :p
