Ok, my first time using the program. Maybe I missed something but I can't get it to work! I'm using it for T3.
1. I am able to get missions to work but I can't change the controls, it just crashes the game.
2. Garret (at least on the mission I am on) I can't see his weapons in First Person.
3. I lost my savegames. Although they are still in the save game folder my "Load Game" thing isn't selectable.
It like it defaulted all my options.

Ok,
1) GL shouldn't interrupt with the controls of T3, I'm not sure what would cause that.
2) Unsure about that one as well, GL merely loads the FMs and is not the FMs themselves. Which mission is it that you are trying?
3) The save games are all zipped up into the allsaves folder contained in your thief - deadly shadows program folder. When you use GL to "install" back to the original missions they too will then be restored...same as darkloader. However when you say they are still in the savegame folder, they shouldn't be unless you had a crash during an install?
Please give a bit more information about what you did.
thanks

OK, its kind of long but helpful:
Well I installed Garret Loader to its folder. Then started it, I then clicked the T3 tab and it brought up some "Auto" questions.
First thing it asked was for my games location. So when I showed it the location and my EXE it said my game was the wrong version or a newer and then asked if I would like to use a diffrent EXE. It also said it would back up my old EXE. So I said yes.
Then it asked if I would want to move my SAEVGAME folder to D:ProgramFiles/ThiefDeadlyShadows/ instead of the My Documents location to help load saves better (or something like that). I said no, but I am thinking it did anyway. But I can't find a savefolder in the T3 folder!
Then I exited to (to make sure it saved the settings). When I restarted it poped up the tabs again so I chose T3 TAB and picked my T3.exe again, showed it my FM location folder and hit save it then crashed.
So I restarted it and it had a new window (obviously the FM window for T3). So I choose the level "Lord Ravens Mansion" which is a zip and installed it and started it.
And well here I am with a new settings thing I can't change and a savegame folder I can't get to.

With Darkloader you could not properly change the controls if an FM was loaded, you had to have the original game loaded in order to save them properly.
Maybe this is a similar issue?

It shouldn't move them if you specify no, however they are originally in
c:\documents and settings\username\my documents\thief - deadly shadows to begin with, and are moved to your thief deadly shadows game folder in program files if you choose yes.

As above, this is explained in the wiki (

The settings thing is a bit odd, I have not come across it before so I am thinking its due to missing files somewhere. Try (
http://www.potterdevelopments.org.uk/fm/GL_GAME_DIAGNOSTICS.ZIP) this exe (its a standalone test exe version of the game install tool in the next version of GL), its by no means finished and does not fix anything. Put it in your GarrettLoader folder and it will pick up your GarrettLoader.ini file settings to use. Select the T3 tab and click the diagnose button, it will create an html file of results so that you can see what files may be missing or extra.
