First of all, my DromEd is "DromEd Final 1.27 MSVC opt playtest" as according to the log, I am unsure if it's the latest version.
Whenever I try to use DromED on Fan Missions, there's always some bugs or missing features.
It asks me to search for the gamesys file, which I find it of course, but then...Models, textures, particles, etc, they're all missing.
Doesn't help that some of them might use the same model but a different texture and yet I don't have it in DromED.
I know that one of the methods to fix this is to modify "DARKINST", but it gets very tedious.
Is there a proper way to fix this?
EDIT:
The solution is; Make a DromED shortcut, open "Properties" and add -fm to the end. This way you don't need to change anything in the config files.

A gamesys doesn't include all the custom content. It just tells DromEd which custom content to use. You'll need to actually have the corresponding fam, obj, mesh... etc folders (along with their contents) inside your thief install to make it work.
For the quick and dirty, just copy/paste them from the FM install into your DromEd root folder, and that should work. Over time, you should cull the assets to only include the ones you're using.

you dont need a seperate install for dromed.
just use fmsel.
if you start dromed, the fmsel screen will pop up, just like with playing fm's and you can choose the fm you want to work with/in
it will use the folder with all the assets you have in your fm folder within your thief dir

Everything nightshifter says is true. Just a word of caution though- if you go this route, you'll have to boot up the resources every time.
I highly recommend having a separate install for DromEd. Especially if you plan to use any non-stock content.

I was under the impression that necrohowl was planning to peek (work?) in existing fanmissions..
btw: I rarely uninstall missions after playing. I have a huge fm-folder inside my thief dir;) ( with nowadays harddrives/storage no problem)
I'm working on several fanmissions at the moment and I also have them inside that same folder. just making a new folder inside "fm" for each mission I'm working on and putting in all the assets/goodies I use for the missions inside.

Yeah, I didn't explain properly, sorry. That is what I want to do and to be more specific:
What I want is to use DromED to get into existing FMs, so I can do stuff like figure out where the lever is, find all the secrets, see if it has hidden objectives, find loot, etc etc and most the times I need those custom contents or else the mission might not load, crash or have too many broken textures.
My DromED is actually already in the Root Directory (Where Thief2 is installed), the method that trefoilknot mentioned is actually more tedious than the one where I change DARKINST.cfg.
I want to try your method, nightshifter, but I never got FMSel to pop-up when I start up DromED, should I change a configuration file somewhere?
EDIT: Nevermind, by my own induction I've thought what nightshifter meant is that I should change the config so the FMSel is always started first when I start Thief.
And it works!
Thank you nightshifter and trefoilknot.
For those who want to make it as simple as possible:
Make a DromED shortcut, open "Properties" and add -fm to the end. This way you don't need to change anything in the config files.

And to make the fun complete...
I recently found out by accident that , once you are in Dromed game mode, you can hit quick load ( or load a regular save) and you will have your saved game with all your Inventory, ticked off objectives etc.in Dromed.
You can save when you are done what you want to do. Only thing... Don't go in Editor mode before saving because otherwise your save will be corrupted.
Nice things to do while you have loaded a save.... Toggle Ai awareness, fly (shift +q) etc.
Do remember to undo that or f.e. you will still fly while playing that save again in thief.
(Control +p, in command line: nofly) 😉

I knew there'd be a way to "cheat" in Thief, especially savegame-related, by using DromED
Thanks nightshifter, funnily enough this also answers my question in this thread; (

:cool::thumb:
i found out about this while I was trying to get that piece of loot high up in the violent end of Duncan Malveine ( great mission btw)
falling to my death every time I decided to check it out in dromed and while falling down again I instinctively hit f9 ( my load_quicksave) et voila:cheeky:
