Here's some good advice which I think is seriously lost on people these days - give your son the name for a man, not the name for a boy.
There is a major difference there. That means no Tylers, Blakes, Blairs, Scotts, (sorry scots) Ethans, Damians, or (sorry) Garretts, etc. These are boys names. If it sounds cute, it's bad. If it sounds like a name for an elementary student, it's bad. Picture your son as a strong grown 45-year-old man, and then come up with an appropriate name.

Joseph (Joe)
Edward (Eddy)
Francis (Frank)

Donald (Don)
Victor (Vic)
You get the idea. But even if you don't like any of the names listed, seriously think about the above advice.
