Help with "unfriendly competition"

I'm going nuts!!!:mad: I took the book from the house of Agarmir, then I got arrested, I payed the bounty so I should be allowed to keep the book and now Thoronir want evidence for my accusations and I can't find the book in my inventory and nothing new happens when I talk to him.
I also talked to Jensine and she just says that I have to give the book to Thoronir at once. What am I doing wrong or am I missing something?:confused:

PLEASE HELP ME!

make sure the guards don't see you pick the lock when you enter the house, and they won't follow you ;)

Is it really the case? AFAIK, the [SPOILER]Macabre Manuscript[/SPOILER] is kind of a quest item (albeit not a non-droppable like AoK), and doesn't appear as stolen in your inventory. I broke in, took it and, confronted by a guard, paid the fine (along with the usual strip-searching &c. :rolleyes:). The book remained in my inventory.

Yeah, the book is just a 'normal' item (i.e. not registered as belonging to someone else), and so taking it does not constitue a crime.

And really, you guys - you shouldn't be getting caught in the first place! :p
