I don't understand the instructions:
"Unzip into root of System Shock 2 install folder, with "Use Folder Names" enabled."
Can somebody translate this into English? Thank You.

You just open the file shtup_beta5.zip, click on the big 'Extract' button in the window. Then in the dialog that appears once you do that, you should see a white line, write the location of the root SS2 folder in there, by default it is C:\Games\Sshock2
And in the same window, flag the 'Use Folder Names' option. This tells WinZip to extract the contents of the zip file into their correct folder locations, which is mandatory to make SHTUP work properly with SS2. When all this is done simply click the 'Extract' button and WinZip will decompress all the files into the root SS2 folder.
But don't forget to make the game mod-ready before attempting to run it with SHTUP installed.

Who the hell uses Winzip any more?
Just go to your System Shock 2 install directory, and copy the contents of the .zip file to that window, and not in any subdirectory. Don't take any files in the .zip from their directories.

You expect him to understand that if he doesn't understand the install instructions he quoted above?

Yes, because it simply involves opening the .zip in Windows Explorer, select all, copy, go to SS2 directory, paste.
If you have a decent archiver (such as WinRAR) installed, simply right-click drag the .zip to the SS2 directory and select 'extract here'.
Or better still, just change the file extension to .ss2mod and use the mod manager.

Well, the install instructions he wanted translated into English were extremely simple as well.

Thanks for the replies.
I just didn't understand what to me sounds "technical" in their descriptions:
"root" and "Use Folder Names" enabled."
Is there a better app then Winzip ?
THANKS Bjossi ( and everyone else).

Sory to be such a dolt but what does this mean ?
"But don't forget to make the game mod-ready before attempting to run it with SHTUP installed.
Sorry, "MOD READY" ? THANKS

There are many other programs, like WinRar, 7-Zip, WinAce, etc.
What the above mentioned programs have over WinZip is that they show folder structure. Like in WinZip you just see a bunch of files when opening the shtup_beta5 zip file, but with programs like 7-Zip you see the folders and files inside them. All you have to do here is to select all the folders and then extract them to the main SS2 folder.
As for mod-ready, this is explained in detail in the FAQ threads on top of this forum page.
Here's a (
