I just got SS2 and am having trouble getting it to run. I have looked at the FAQs but my problem does not seem to be addressed.
I can start up the game fine and I can play through the training. Then I play the section where I pick 3 missions to improve my skills. This works fine.
However, once the actual game starts after the cutscene where I wake up in the room with the ladder blocked by some metal object, I get a critical error prompting me if I want to send an error report. This happens between the end of the cutscene and the start of the game, immediately after loading.
Can anyone help me? I really want to play this game!

This might be a corrupted file bugging you, try go to your SS2 CD and drag/drop medsci1.mis from the CD to the main folder where you installed the game.

I tried this but couldn't get it to work. Any other possibilities?

Y'know, the date of this post's a tell. But that'd be in rather bad taste.

Is that really such a great idea, if the files on the CD are not patched?
(I'm not sure if the patch modifies medsc1.mis or not...)It might also be a corrupt .crf, I suppose... maybe snd.crf, and it crashes when it tries to play a certain sound?
You could try reinstalling and repatching the game, see if that does any good?

The patch doesn't update any MIS files. Remember it makes updates to the MIS files via DIF files... and that is only for HYDRO2 and SHODAN.

I don't think corrupted CRFs are the problem, he can start the game fine and play the training levels.
But of course reInstalling wouldn't hurt.

I thought your username was pretty cool, not as good as Dude Guyman though. ;)
