Hi guys!
I've tried to play an old game I own, called Cutthroats. It's not a Looking Glass game, but I was recommended this forum by a friend, when I asked for help to make it work.
Anyways... I've played this game before on a much older computer with Windows 98. Now I got all nostalgic and wanted to try it out again on my current computer, with XP Home. I could install it and it started fine, I got into the main menu and could navigate the sub menu for starting a new game. However, as soon as the new "campaign" was about to start, I had a CTD.
My system specs:
- Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 2400
- on an ASUS P5K mobo (with integrated sound card)
- 4 GB memory
- 32 bit XP Home SP3
- ATI Radeon HD 4850 512 MB
- Plenty of hard drive space
Can anyone please help me play this old game again?

have you tried running it in win98 compatibility mode?

Yeah, I forgot to write that before, but I did try - unsuccessfully - to run it in Windows 98 compatibility mode. But thanks for the tip, voodoo47!
And, Bikerdude, that is exactly the same game I'm talking about. And the error seems closely related to mine too, only my game crashes much, much faster than "Daniel's" as he describes it in the thread at abandonia. Now, my problem is that I no longer own a Windows 98 disc, so even though I already have Virtual PC installed it does me little good.
But like they say in that thread, the trouble seems to be Windows XP. Thank you both for your help! Any further suggestions?

Yeah you could install VirtualBox, as Ive found a bunch of older games run in that, eg Quake2 etc

Thanks for the helpful comments, guys! In the end I got hold of a copy of Win 98 and installed it inside Virtual PC. It works fine, except for some strange audio problems that I can live with. Good of you both to try and help me! Now I'll play it some more! The game is lots of fun! :)

You could also use VmWare server(free version) or Vbox, though I found vbox to be slow when running w98..
