[HELP] T:DS Screwed Up After Fan Mission... - by Pat1991

Hello there,
seems like I screwed up my Thief: Deadly Shadows installation. Basically, I tried to install GarretLoader, the level editor, and maybe something else. It ended up first not loading the fan mission with sound, then crashing whenever I wanted to load it, and now it seems to be completely screwed.
What I already tried:
- Totally uninstalling the game in the GOG Galaxy tool
- Uninstalling it, including savegames and user config.
- Reinstalling it
Oddly enough, reinstalling it gives me the same fanmission as a savegame, and ends up crashing it.
Help, what happened, and how do I get my vanilla version back? How do I uninstall / stop whatever is messing up the new install when I try to install it?

Delete GOG Galaxy entirely, then download T3 again from GOG, preferably without installing GOG Galaxy.
If you have to also install galaxy once you have d/l T3 move the game to an unprotected folder and get rid of GOG Galaxy.
Galaxy is a control freak, it doesn't like players who want to do stuff GOG doesn't have control over.
PS. Is Garrettloader the only way to install the T3 editor? Asking as Garrettloader hasn't been maintained for years.

Strangely enough, that didn't help. I literally installed it to another directory this time. Seems like some config file was changed, that isn't stored in the actual game folder... weird?

They're normal, they come with the game install. Probably fallback graphics to show when other files are corrupt or missing.

Probably not. GarrettLoader would copy FM files into your install, so FM savegames would probably end up mixed in with your normal saves? Just delete that save, or move it somewhere until you can get the FM installed again using AngelLoader, NewDarkLoader or FMSel.

That was probably it. I installed the Sneaky Upgrade and fanmissions as well as the base game work as they should now, except for a problem with the screen resolution.
Easy solutions are often the best ones. Lesson learned: Do not use Garrettloader.
