naw i never used any of the savegame slots. autosave all the way. hey its more convenient and i dont have to interrupt the tension of the game to save my progress.
but i guess now im screwed huh?
It interrupts the tension to spend 5 seconds saving the progress into a savegame slot? :weird:
xerxes2044 on 9/12/2006 at 18:01
yeah, for me continuity is key. you don't get that with any other game, where the tension and atmosphere are so key to the game experience. why would i want to interrupt that?
well i guess now ive got a reason. eh, knowing myself, i still won't do it. call me stupid, call me stubborn. whatever.

You should (ur) keep reloading the save (omgz) until you can finally beat the enemy that's attacking you (ure) because it looks like you're screwed, unless (im) you follow everyone's advice. The fun way would be what I suggested (internet shorthand for some stupid reason) and see how long it takes for you to survive past the cyborg.

You should really bind the quicksave key to not use the same slot as the autosave.
How to do this is explained (

You can edit the save game.
Start ShockEd -> go in game (the default room is fine) -> Esc -> Load Game -> Alt + E -> Make Edits -> Alt + G -> Esc -> Save Game -> Quit ShockEd
Oh, right, yes, you can do that. I was referring to the missing native save-game loading functionality of the Thief 2 version of DromEd, where you can loads the saved game files directly into the editor, without having to go into game mode first.

you guys dont get it. when i load up the game, im already dead. and i tried opening the game from Dromed and the same thing happens. it doesnt let me stay in the game even though im already dead, it just throws me back to the main menu.
unless im doing something wrong

apparently, when i tried to pull off a miracle and get out of that snag by ducking/healing, i saved it again after i was killed. so when i load, im already dead. anything i can do? or am i really screwed now?
Oh, sorry, I missed this post.
No, once you're dead, you're dead. There's not really anything you can do about it. The game-ending timer is counting down. Even if you modify you character do be alive again, the game will still end.
You might be able to get around it by hiding the allobjs.osm, loading the game in DromEd, modifying your player to be alive, then restoring allobjs.osm.
Not sure if this will work, though.

hm can u take me through that step by step please?
btw do u have aim, aircraftkiller? cause talking in Aim/AOL would be so much easier

If nothing works you'll have to start over, and if that is needed, I suggest saving in more than one slot once in a while. I personally don't see any sense in not using saving, at least you can choose certain spots during the game like in the elevator or something.
xerxes2044 on 9/12/2006 at 23:01
well i got to the point where i took out the file that the airplane guy (two posts above or whatever) told me to, and then to reopen the game in dromed. ive gotten that far, so when i reload, even though im dead it doesnt throw me back to the main menu. so hopefully someone can tell me if theres a way to add health to my character from dromed, since im a total dromed noob.
and if anything, ill start over. no big deal. well..then again. but hey as long as i enjoy it. better than any of the other games ive got anyway.

After you have the game loaded up in DromEd, hit Alt+E to go back to the editor.
Type find_obj player into the console (bottom-right hand corner, type shift+semicolon or click on it to activate it).
Click on the 'Properties' button, bottom centre of the DromEd UI.
Look for the Game->Damage Model->Death Stage property, and delete it if it's there.
Modify the Game->Damage Model->Hit Points property to give yourself some health again. I think that's all you should have to do.
Hit Alt+G to go back into game mode, save the game, replace allobjs.osm, and you should be good to go.
I have no idea what the end result of having the game running while the script module is unavailable will be though. It's possibly that all stored script data will be lost, which would wreak serious havoc on the scripting of the level. You have been warned.
