Morrowind is running fine except - I have no local map. Just an inconvenience to start with but now becoming a big problem. I have new Pentium 4 PC with all the right spec and running XP. Any ideas out there?
Hope I have posted this in the right place but an a complete newbie so sorry if not.

No local map or no map at all? If the former, go into the inventory screen (default is right-click) and left-click on the little map in the bottom right of the screen. Map should appear. This happened to me too when I first played. I figured out what to do eventually and quite by accident.
If the latter, I have no idea.

It is the local map that is completely black. The world map has some, but not all, of the places I have been on it. Cliking the little map just opens and closes the map box. Thanks for trying to help anyway.

Ah, the blacked-out map problem! That's something that happens every so often for no particular reason. Try restarting your game, or even your computer- the game is full of graphics glitches and they tend to sort themselves out if you exit and restart. There is a thread on the subject somewhere on this forum, called 'black map east of Vivec' or something.

rrg I have the same problem... I tried restarting the game, restarting the computer and ever reinstalling but it still is screwed up. I have a black local map and no towns or anything ot the world map.
Any other advice? X_x

Sorry, I still have not got it fixed. Have tried everything you have and still no map. Am seriously considering reverting to X-box where I got hooked in the first place. Would be a shame but you can only go so far in the dark. do let me know if you ever get a solution.
