Help my friend build & produce the most important theatre in Vancouver - by Keeper Mallinson

Hi guys. A good friend (name of Jhayne Holmes) has a brand new, and very ambitious, dream. A heritage theatre just came on sale, one that provided culture in the past century but has now become all but derelict. She wishes to build it into a cultural centre, a badly needed one, where shows of all kinds will occur. Her army of friends and many resources within Vancouver have all agreed to help, and she's already raised an astonishing amount of funds. She is pulling her strength and resources for the biggest mustering of her life. She wants to call the place
Heart of the World, after the classic movie. Vancouver needs this. We have so much potential, just nowhere to go with it right now. You can see it in the random events, creative flash-mobs and local explosions of culture and eccentricity that happen intermittently in the city.
I'm just giving a call-out to anyone who would either be willing to help through her paypal service, or would even like to be a part of the building and eventual running of this place, should her plans be successful. She needs quite a lot of money within a month, but it's starting to look possible; very possible. If you live here, any kind of volunteering (skilled or non-skilled) would be appreciated, but donations are accepted from all over the world.

I was so hoping for pictures of a dark creepy derelict theatre. :(

She went in there recently, she brought her camera. Perhaps there will be. She was using her camera to illuminate dark rooms for microseconds. There were entire giant rooms with nothing but dust and chairs. I'll see what I can do, actually.

Uh, you've embedded about 40 megabytes of very large images there. You'll want to replace those with thumbnails or text links, and probably put a warning about the sizes too.

yeah, un-embedding the images might be a good idea before Daveh brings the "WTF" hammer.
Also interesting because I'd actually just read about this on a different site, didn't think that one of our TTLGers would actually be sort of involved with it.

Is it a just movie theatre or is that a catwalk and space for a fly system I see? Are those wings?
What sort of shows does she want to put in there? Any production space or is it a road house?
That's quite a project. Kudos for your friend taking it on.

When I entered in this thread, I thought that waiting over 8 minutes (41,1 MB! Dear GOD!) was worth of it but nooo... I was wrong :(
Opera just eats more CPU cycles than it should and it won't even show those pictures. :tsktsk:
You should compress those pictures a little bit....:weird:
