Hard to guess. Is the VW set up as a chase vehicle, or is it set up for external shots of within the car? I don't remember seeing a VW in "Paycheck" (but the movie sucked, so I don't remember it all that well), but if it's a chase vehicle, it might have been used in "Paycheck" or "M:I 2". It might have been the short (http://imdb.com/title/tt0338111/) "Hostage" (I haven't seen it). It wasn't anything earlier than that (the VW new Beetle wasn't around yet), and his next film looks to be a period film.

I have no idea, and I'm not interested enough to bother finding out, but here is a hint. Look up "the new beetle" and look up "john woo." Then take a look at the list of films he made in or after the year when the new VW bug came out. Another hint: Budget rental trucks are found in the US, so you can rule out the ones set in Hong Kong.
