I've tried everything to get Thief: Deadly Shadows running on my computer. I have a fair background knowledge of computers and I still can't seem to figure out how to get it to work.
Problem: Thief apparently installs correctly, It runs through the producers of the game and its affiliates and gets to the title screen. After clicking "New game" it goes to the first debriefing and Garrett begins talking me through it. My issue slams whenever I hit "start" from the debriefing screen. It shows the loading screen for the smallest fraction of a second and then simply goes blank with the only things visible on the screen are my health crystals and my compass with the light gem in the middle. After roughly 30 or so seconds it forcedly exits and will not let me run the game again. I have to uninstall the game and reinstall the game for another chance at running the game.
System: I do have a dual core system, I have tried the set affinity trick and it did nothing. I'm running an nVidia 9500 mGS (its a laptop). I have 3 Gb of RAM and my processor is fine to run the game. I'm running Windows Vista. I tried to install the 56.72 nVidia driver and that didn't seem to work either.
I cannot figure out how to get it to run and I'm almost desperate because I love the game so much. My fianc'e got the game for me for this Christmas and she seems a little saddened by the fact I can't get the game to run either. This is my first time on the forum and I need the help of all you Thief geniuses out there :) Thank you guys so much!!!!

Yes I've tried filing through that entire section and I looked through some of the solution you guys give for similar problems. Unfortunately no luck.
