Done. Now we'll see how long that lasts.

Some of the wiki people are so anal, they probably would kill it out again if Levine himself edited the article.

Actually the "original research" angle probably covers making the claim that something is probable, as this counts as an unverified analysis of facts. Wheeeee!
I don't think the "citing oneself" angle covers authors specifically commenting on or clarifying articles about their own work. Then again it might, since it's difficult to verify that a wikipedia article contributor is who they claim they are.

Would information on the weapons/psi-powers go on a seperate page?
Only if it's for Halo or some other massive mainstream game that the Wikipedians get aroused by. If whatever mega-super-admin-ninja editor is online at the time does not like the game, you are screwed.
Was this yours, Kolya?

As no person named "von Braun" appears within the game universe it's highly probable that the starship Von Braun was named after pioneering German rocket scientist Wernher von Braun.
For similar reasons, it appears that the starship Rickenbacker was named for WWI ace Eddie Rickenbacker.
Wikipedia is quickly becoming a parody of itself.
"gold is a metal..."
WHO SAYS?
"well, it's in group 11 of the periodic table"
SO WHAT?
"group 11 is made up of metals"
WHO SAYS?
"it is widely accepted that group 11 is made of metals"
(Dalek voice) QUOTE SOURCE QUOTE SOURCE
etc.
ADDITIONAL EDIT: But wait! There's more!
The entry for Farenheit 451 has various references to LGS games, and (
http://www.deusex-machina.com/articles/makingofdeusex.asp) look where they link to!
HMM THAT LOOKS FAMILIAR!
So all someone would have to do is make a page declaring the VB and Rick inspirations, put it on Sshock2.com and we're away!

Minus the Rickenbacker part, yes.

The 451 info came from an interview with a designer.
Where would the VB and Rick info come from? It's just like when someone cited some wiki about the VB info. There was nothing to suggest someone hadn't just come along and wrote it, taking a guess. You might as well link to a random forum post.

The idea might seem absurd to you, but you created this absurd situation yourself when you decided to apply the wikipedia rules word by word for something as trivial as trivia entries on a videogame.
The non-SS2 articles (Von Braun, THX1138) that state the same SS2-references for years we are arguing to put into the SS2-article now, show that a different way of handling this is not only possible but rather common on Wikipedia.
So maybe you should just relax a bit and realise that:
A) These trivia facts are probably correct.
B) Should they turn out not to be correct one day, noone will blame Wikipedia of being an unreliable encyclopedia because of THESE trivia facts.
C) Your strive for accuracy while being laudable in general would be better applied to articles that really need it.

So your argument is that because Wikipedia is inaccurate and unverified in many other areas, this makes objections to the accuracy and verifiability in your particular part of it unsupportable?
Kolya on 31/8/2006 at 13:46
No, my argument is to take pedantry where it's worth it.
