HELP: Locked doors and lockpicks problem... - by Dago

Hi...again me :rolleyes:

And in part "In the TO box enter one of the lock object names" I write DiamondMetalLock_0 and it show message "Couldn't find valid object desk" ?!?! I press "Use current archetype" and it entred "DiamondMetalLock" I add "_0" And it always show that message(Im sure I add locks on map)...What's the problem?
And about lockpicks...I make valid script as it is written in tut by David...but when I close "Script manager" T3ED always freeze and in "Windows task manager" is written "Not responding"...always...does anyone have same problem? And if has...how do u fix it? In WTM is written about 22%CPU usage and memory is free too...I really don't know what's the problem....

K...1st problem fixed... "SquareSilverLock__0" there are 2 "__" not only 1... :p

Mine seemed to freeze when I tried that tutorial as well. I left it for a minute or two and it unfroze eventually. Maybe it's just really slow?

Ee..thx it works..it takes years..but it works :thumb:
Another problem with Pickable doors:
When I make locks riged attachment of doors...they move to right-bottom part of doors and I can't move them...In tut was written they can be everywhere I tried many places but locks always moves to right-bottom...Any Ideas how can I move them to center of doors?

I think the locks go to the corner when you first attach them, but if you save the map and reopen it they should move to the appropriate hardpoints you defined in the link.

New here with posting but have read the Forum Thief3 since I bought the game – that forum has been a great help in many situations. Some earlier experience from editing: “Freespace” (fascinating space action from 1999 or so) and “Neverwinter”.
Downloaded and installed T3Ed without problems-using dracflamlocs Thief3Launcher and Mandrakes xbreboot.bat - exellent solutions. Thank you !
The Editor crashes sometimes - usually when I subtract unwisely…..
Dell Dimension 8250, 2.6 Ghz, 512 MB, ATI Radeon 9700 Pro, Catalyst version 04.9 seems to be ok here….
Here is my problem:
Can´t get lockpicks to work. :confused:
1. Have made a locked door as suggested in “FleshWorks : PickableDoors”.
Door is locked, there are locks on both sides, seems ok.
2. Have made a trigger script “Give PlayerLockpicks” as suggested in the “Tutorial: Giving the player upgrades….”. Trigger Script>Trigger Conditions>Player>When player starts map. In the tutorial it says that the condition should be: Player>When player starts the map, arriving from a different map. Does anybody know if this difference could be a problem ?
Actions> Set flag PlayerCanLockPick>True, expires on map change>False, expires on mission -1.
This seems ok.
I click ok everywhere until objects property window, click use and GivePlayerLockpicks is shown under Scripts>Trigger Scripts. This seems also ok.
The Tutorial stops here but as I´m not familiar with scripting procedures I wonder what should be done next ?
If I just quit the the Actor Classes window or if I use the alternative “Save packages” I receive the following messages when I exit from T3Ed:
Message 1: The package’Engine’ has been changed and needs to be saved. Save it now ?
If “Yes”- the option “Save Dirty Package” comes up with no filename suggested. Fileformat: Packages (*.*) In Thief-Editor/Engine/Classes there is a file”PlayerStart.uc. I´ve tried to save there.
Message 2: “Export changed scripts? The following classes have been modified, but are unsaved; PlayerStart, Would you like to ‘Export changed Scripts’ beforequitting.” Here I usually click “Yes”.
When I start the Editor again it has lost the PlayerStart Properties> Script>Triggerscript>GivePlayerLockpicks.
Any help would be greatly appreciated, I hope that I have explaned all in an understandable way.
