I forgot to save at a regular interval (even though I often quick save) and had to close my computer in a hurry so I lost an important part of my game that I rather didn't want to struggle through again so I searched for a god mode and stumbled on the undead command on (

IMPORTANT: First make a backup of the file ''user.cfg'' in the System Shock 2 folder and save it somewhere where you would not forget it.
Using notepad, add the following line to the original ''user.cfg'' file: undead

As instructed I added the undead line to
user.cfg but as it was nonexistent, I created an empty file first (lacking better instruction) and it functioned ! I went through the redundant part 3x faster. :D
But but but :erm: when I got ready to face my enemies again, what I wanted turned against me and I coudn't get hurt anymore, not even by scripted health loss such as an elevator crushing me. :erg: After some research, I found out that I should've

So I'm stuck, please help. :(

It doesn't matter which you do, if you save your game with God mode on, the only way to get it off is to do some editing in ShockED. I'd recommend just taking the god mode line out of user.cfg, starting over and playing properly, but if you don't want to, go (

No, that still would have lead to the same outcome.

I deleted the Death Stage entry then saved in another game but couldn't load SS2 at all, luckily I backed up the files that should've been overwrote so I restored them and SS2 loaded and I could load the game however I was still invincible so I browsed through Player properties to find another that might still induce the god-mode as you may see in the following image :

Based on that pic you do not have god mode on.
You have done the other half (removed the 'undead' line from user.cfg), yes? If not, you won't die and the death stage property will be re-added every time your hits drop below zero.

Just go back and play the game normally.

I found the problem (but not the solution) ! The game saved through the editor had the same play time as the original, I thought it was a small bug but that the death stage was removed. Well I was wrong, while "playing" through the editor I crossed a door (in my first attempt I didn't move) then saved but when I reloaded with regular SS2, I was behind the door, so it seem the game saved through the editor (while in game mode) couldn't reach the normal mode.
I tested if it was only a session save assuring that there was no instance of the editor opened then reopened it loading the new game and I was across the door. :\ So it seem a matter of opening the game through the editor or normal way.

Indeed it was removed by the point I opened the game editor.

Before writing that, did you know that it had been suggested ?

Saving through the editor works, I do it all the time- it's exactly the same process and result as saving via SShock2.exe. You've got something wrong in your install.
You could always continue your play through solely through DromEd, I suppose, else you probably will have to just play through without undead.

Of course. But you've already spent more time trying to undo the god mode than you would have spent just replaying the section properly.

Would someone be so kind as to try opening the edited game in a normal fashion (via SShock2.exe), I've put it on my homepage : (

Thank you kindly, I didn't think you could switch sections through the map editor (ie: from hydroponics a-b to d).
