I'm nearing the end - done lots of quests, I'm the Master Thief, the ArchMage, the GrandMaster of the Morag Tong, etc. Now I've decided to seriously pursue the main thread - I've been to the cavern of the incarnate and found out I'm the Neverine.
Problem is, I keep dying. I hear a scream, and then I see my character fall on his back dead, and I get the prompt to load my most recent save. I have 100% immunity to blight and corpus. I've gone to the main temple in Vivec and bought every single blessing imaginable. But after a few minutes of game play I drop dead again. I have the Moon-and-Star ring, but I'm not wearing it. I've got all the apparel from the other candidates for Neverine, but prefer to wear my own creations.
I also carry around a couple of thousand pounds of stuff because my strength and feather potions are powerful. I levitate with an amulet and move at enhanced speed usually. My stats like luck, intel, etc. are usually pumped up over 1000 from my potions.
I'm in day 571 now and I really want to finish the game. Anybody have any clues why I'm dying?
thanks,
Wyldeman the Wood Elf

Where exactly are you when you die? This might help someone answer you.

Your post indicates that you've abused Alchemy and that at some point you made a very powerful Fortify Health potion.
Fortify Health adds an amount of Health above your normal maximum for a limited (in your case probably a few months) duration after which it will substract the same amount from what you have left. The catch : You can't heal above your normal maximum and if the added amount was more than that you will die. This is likely what is happening to you.
There are 2(3) solutions :
1) Use more Fortify Health to be able to survive the backlash. This will keep you addicted but able to continue from where you are. Remember that while you are making potions the gametime stands still ie. you can make enough potions to survive 1 second before you die if you have the ingredients and a mortar/pestle on you.
2) Reload from a point prior to when you quaffed that Fortify Health potion. You will not need another of those again but instead you may loose a lot of progress.
3) Use the console (PC only) to give you more base Health than the potion(s) did, wait for the potion(s) to run out heal up and reset your health (if you want back to "normal"). This is a cheat but it will rectify your situation without the drawbacks of 1) & 2).

Thanks Winged K. I bet you're right. I went into the incarnate cave battle with health fortified to about 1700. It was the first time. Ususally I just take my super restore health potions. Maybe if I take a restore health potion which lasts for a few hours, and then lay down to sleep, it will be better.
I have abused alchemy in the past - maybe I need an intervention =:-o
thanks again,

And here I thought it was Skooma that was the killer drug in Morrowind :D
Healing up to full health (even while fortified) should do the trick... if the health meter is 100% full then when the potion wears off it should only drop off what was fortified, you're basic amount of health should be left.

Unfortunately, my health is fortified to over a thousand, but at level 68, my base health is only about 600. I've tried taking a bunch of my super restore health (300 pts for several thousand seconds), but no matter - as soon as the fortify wears off, I drop. I have continued on now by quick saving often, and when I drop, I know I have to restore and take another fortify. I'm hooked I guess.

Reading "Confessions of a Skooma Addict" may help with your problem ;)
I haven't used alchemy at all in any of my games. I probably should try it out sometime. Those super restore health potions of yours sound intriguing.

Alchemy rocks!
Even more so once you've boosted the stats a bit (usually by making potions). I use it primarily for restoring Health, Fatigue, and Magicka (when needed, with my mage it's all the time).
BTW - don't bother if you're dumb as toast or very, very unlucky. Int. is the stat that governs Alchemy, while you'll fail as much or more when you start off boosting the Alchemy stat by making potions, you will have an ever harder time if you're dumb too! :D I'm pretty sure though, that even average intellegence people will have no problem with Alchemy.

hmm. am I the only one who has never used potions and stuff to bump up my stats/health/whatever to unreasonably high levels? I have always just gone with what I have, not caring about becoming especially powerful. by the time I finished the main quest @ lvl. 29 I was already so powerful that nothing could touch me. well, whatever floats your boat.

You're not the only one, Daoloth. I've never used Alchemy either and I've been playing for some time.
