I would like to find the Helm of Poxsellis but as of now I have not the key to get into the crypt from the City if Arx. Does anybody know of an easy way in. I feel that this would help my quest to get out of the Temple of Illusions on level 6?

well, the easy way in is with the key -- there are other ways out once you get in, but AFAIK the key is the only way in.
Have you been to the rebel camp? I think you have to do that first (go there, that is, nothing particularly arduous you have to do while you're there) to trigger the conditions for getting the key.
If you've already been there, have you chatted with whatshisname, the belligerent looking geezer that paces up and down the road near the blacksmith's shop?

Once you have met and talked to the rebels, then go to the city and talk to carlo. He will give you the key.
