I am actually fairly new to Morrowind, I stubbled upon it, after buying the Game of the Year edition to cheap at a used Xbox game store.
I have a question, in an area I am stuck on. In Tribunal, I need to unlock the dwemer box, thats a 100 lock. Now, my security skill I paid to train to 42 and it wont train me after that, without becoming a guild member, for the guy in Balmora. ( a web site I read said he can train to 100 ) So, my question is, how do I open the box, or train the skill, or even join the thieves guild. I am Master of the Fighters guild, so the thieves are really not liking me. What do I do to get past this?
Thanks !

A copy of the lock-splitter scroll should solve your problem nicely... ;)

Indeed. Those things are rare, though. I usually go buy Ondusi's Open from a mage and then get my Lock Blaster (amulet, 100-100 open lock enchantment) setup from an enchanter. Expensive, but worth every septim.

If you like exploring, there is a cave. I recall it was somewhere along the Azura's Coast region, with an entry point near the water. Inside are a large number of barrels containing an even larger number of Ekash's lock-splitter scrolls. An absolute goldmine of the things, but...
you've got to find the cave. My advice: go exploring.

Yes, I have stumbled upon a 100 open lock scroll before, somewhere in or around a wizards tower close to Dragon Fel, that was long ago used up, on some door that lead me to some good loot, but nothing really special, as far as gear. Can anyone tell me if they sell such a scroll or is it a looted scroll only.
This is such an amazing game, I am just astounded as to the freedom of what you can do, but I do want to do the main quests at least once with a character before I go on a murderous rampage with another character = )
Thanks fo the help !

When you are a high level you'll find quite a lot of the scrolls which can open the 100 locks if you look through the caves.

When you are a high level
you'll laugh at those puny 100 locks.
Fixed.

These scrolls are sometimes sold by different venders that sell scrolls (in temples and mage guilds, for example.) However, the scrolls they sell are random on the first time you enter the cell. For example, if you have just entered the Balmora Mage's Guild for your first time, the merchant who sells scrolls in there will be given several random scrolls. Now this is the important bit... From then on, she will ONLY sell those scrolls.
If there is still a Mage's Guild you haven't entered, save it before entering. Check the vender. If s/he still doesn't sell the scroll you want, reload.

Depends how much attention you've paid to the security skill
