(*notes at the beginning that this has probably already been discussed, but as far as I can tell, not for a while*)
So there I was, heading up to the dwemer ruin NW of Gnisis, to get some scrap metal for Aengoth. (never picked it up before, since it's so bloody heavy) Ran into this random chic (don't remember the name) who said she was a...dancer...headed to the Gnisis barracks. She'd dropped her ring into the pond, and as she didn't think smelling like pond muck would earn her any tips, would I be kind enough to get it for her? So I say sure, jump in and search for a LONG time--even with my Khajiit night vision it took a while to find the damn thing--so I find it, and I hear "No good deed goes unpunished!" I get out of the pond, and she and this other dude promptly attack me--the whole thing was a setup!!! :laff:
I was laughing so hard I almost got myself killed...Almost. Came to my senses and got a nice piece of chameleon eq once I'd kicked their asses.
Kudos to whichever developer thought that one up :thumb:

:) Yeah, this one happened to me, as well.
The funniest moment I experienced until now was when I encountered this warrior who had lost his axe (and apparently most of his clothes) to a witch who had claimed to be a healer in need of a guide. So I agreed seeking out this witch, and shortly after came to this woman who told me her version of the story: The warrior had made advances to her rather importunately, so she had decided to teach him a lesson by taking his axe. She'd give it back in three days.
So I talked with the warrior, but he didn't intend to accept this deal and asked me on which side I was. As the gentleman I am, I sided with the lady and had to fight the enraged warrior in return. She was quite grateful afterwards and told me she'd see that the axe would find a more responsible owner (too bad she didn't consider giving it to me).
After ticking off this small quest mentally, I continued walking along the way. But after some minutes I came across ANOTHER warrior who again was almost naked. He couldn't move because according to him some witch had paralyzed him and taken all his possesions. So this healer had been a witch after all! LOL!

*grin* Actually, there are 3 'naked barbarians'; two are the victims of witches (one of those is the paralysed one), and one of which is the aforementioned would-be rapist. Of course, I killed the latter with nary a twinge of conscience.

That's three too many for my taste, wish you could just give them some clothes from your inventory and have done with.

*grin* But that last one is so fun to torture ;)
*paralyse 100 sec* *poison 10pts, 100 sec*
Sitting back and enjoying yourself was never so good ;)

*******Possible spoilers********
If you like evil fun at the expense of helpless NPC's, how about that guy in the river in Gnisis? When I first saw him, I thought he was just another NPC who had wandered into the water by accident, so I went over to talk to him. When I finally retrieved his pants I decided to tell him I wouldn't give them back, just to see what happened. When he said something like "You as well? What did I ever do to you?" I felt so bad that I reloaded and handed them over :-) Of course if you wanted to be really mean you could dump the pants on the shore just out of his reach....though I'm sure no-one on these forums is sadistic enough to do something like that.

Hmm... it won't work, due to the way dialogues 'give' eq to NPCs (it 'removes' it from your inventory, and then 'adds' a new copy to theirs), but if Morrowind were a touch more realistic then a really cruel prank would be to enchant 'em with a constant-effect, wide-area fire spell of some sort. The only place he could wear them safely would then be the river. ;) (Talk about hotpants... :cheeky:)

Jordana, I'm glad I'm not the only one who feels bad at doing certain things to characters! I had to kill a helpless character for a quest (can't remember which one) but I felt really bad about doing it, and it disturbed me for a long time afterwards. I could not believe it, it is only a computer game after all:(

Forsythe, that's just pure evil. I'm shocked :-}
Hey Shadow Crow, I think it's a testament to the immersiveness (if that's a word) of the game when you feel bad about doing evil things. Some people think it's silly, but I don't see how it's any different from being emotionally affected by reading a book or watching a film. I mean if it doesn't get in touch with your feelings on at least some level, what's the point in playing it? I think it's natural to get warm feelings of satisfaction when you help people out in the game, and also to feel guilty when you screw them over. That is, unless you're Forsythe, whose in-game conscience has obviously been seared to nothingness by what sounds like a long and unhealthy history of NPC-baiting :-)
Having said all that, when NPC's REALLY p*ss me off................there was this obnoxious Breton (I think) woman at the Halfway Tavern in Pelagiad, I went into her room and she said something like "Are you an idiot? Leave. Now." I tried and failed to raise her disposition, and she just got more and more nasty,so in the end I just left the room door open, waited till she wandered out, shut it, and took every moveable object in the room, including her pillow :), and sold it all at the trader's across the way. Such fun!!
