"I bet this plot is bullshit" IS NOT THE SAME THING AS "This plot
is definitely and unquestionably bullshit"
No it certainly isn't.
But if you're going to put your money down on the
99-44/100% sure that it's bullshit marker, and argue that point 'til your blue in the face, your halfhearted caveat-backpedaling doesn't give you the right to get indignant that people think you're being a twat.

I narrowly missed this fiasco by flying out of Manchester about 14 hours prior to it all kicking off.
There were still hand baggage restrictions in place on my flight back though. Ironically, I got more thoroughly searched prior to my outbound flight.
Scary woman just wanted to touch me, neh? Hallo sinister smile search woman. Do you want to know what side I dress? Oh wate you found out already :(

There was an (
http://www.guardian.co.uk/comment/story/0,,1852664,00.html) awesome article in the Guardian yesterday by former ambassador Craig Murray.
Over the past week it's been so incredibly heartening to hear ordinary British people echoing Murray's cynicism; could it be that finally the British public is beginning to see through the web of deception, hyperbole and lies that our governments spin?

Could be! :thumb:

For all those still living in August 10th, everything went fine.

Unless you were trying to smuggle deadly items like toothpaste and books onto aeroplanes, in which case you were fucked (even if you were supposed to be flying the thing).
I've been reading a lot of fairly convincing stuff about the necessary chemistry behind the wacky combine-o-liquid bomb theory being utterly impossible to conduct with any plausibility on board a plane. Which is interesting.
But then the police keep saying they're digging up (quite literally) some exceedingly interesting items around the back of various suspects' houses too. Which is also interesting.
For the moment, I'm settling on "some crazy people were discussing a plan which had no chance of working and the police found out about it" with the SEXY ADDED BONUS of complete airport security over-reaction. I guess we'll see. Or not.

It doesn't have to be a good plan to have a chance of working, although it certainly helps. Remember too that botched schemes, if undetected, help terrorists refine their methods for future attacks. The security "over-reaction" is probably designed to spook conspirators and sympathizers into acting prematurely and also to provide grist for the internet conspiracy industry.

The terrorist plot of ipods and liquid explosives is as believable as snakes on a fucking plane, but nowhere near as awesome.

"over-reaction"
You don't really need to use ironic quotation marks when pilots are being subjected to the same wacky security restrictions as passengers (no toothpaste for you!)
That's pilots.
The guys who could crash planes into shit if they felt so inclined.
Still, the steady implosion of the flight industry means our skies might be altogether fresher and cleaner soon. Every cloud, eh?

It is a plot by the BDA to keep Brits from having sparkling white teeth--no toothpaste for travellers.
Actually, I'm flying on Mohommed's birthday--Tuesday--and I'm not really looking forward to the security point. I miss my eyedrops and toothpaste already....
