Personally I blame the media. Both the US & UK have out-of-control tabloid media.
Or maybe not...
Of course, it could come from their preoccupation with eating boobies. ;)

I would also like to see the stats on HFCS. It's in everything here, including many "light" or "no/low fat" foods. Between that and the prevalence of sugary soft drinks and sweetened fruit juices. It's no wonder diabetes is on the rise. Foods here are over processed as well.
And, irv, I once got a standing ovation from the soccer & football teams at my high school for jogging past in slo-mo. It was like Chariots of Fire with breasts.

Don't forget the western style of living.
Sitting in front of the TV on the couch eating greasy microwaved TV dinners.

Mmmm, Sainsbury's margheritas.
Incidentally, Sainsbury was a woman

Maybe you're on to something - it's not the nutritional (?) content of our food, it's the
quality of our food. I'll give you that.

Usain Bolt became the fastest man on the planet on a diet that seems to consist of little more than chicken nuggets. It would appear the quality of what goes in to the body isn't quite as important as the quantity of physical work you do with it.
