Let me second that sentiment. Rug Burn Junky, you clearly understand what's going on far better than most and your posts are chock full of useful information.
Thanks.

What is so bad about taking a little care of eachother? I know there's always
a chance a system can be exploited, but hey... systems can be exploited by
big corporations just as well as individual people, and I would argue
more easily so.
And as for not wanting the government involved in certain areas of peoples
lives; as long as any government has business men and women in it or has close
ties to the financial world, I would think it already is involved.

This is the biggest piece of shit ever. I choose not to have health insurance anymore. Healthy as a horse, and on the rare occasion I need a prescription (say a Z-pack or some other basic antibiotic/whatever)...I simply have the Dr. @ work order us some wholsale and pay out of pocket. If I get hurt or whatever(even rarer), I pay cash. $70 for an initial visit, $40 for follow ups/simple referrals. Now I am forced by the government to carry and pay for something I don't want or need.
Fuck them, I won't get it. They can lock me the fuck up.
cue posts from all of the people hoping I do.

Gel, you limey bastard! GEL! Have the English no sense of proper Spelluing?
Also, cheap healthcare is rad, even if it means we can't own land anymore. Maybe now I can go to the emergency room and not pay $1500 for some salve and a piece of gauze.

You
do realize that serious injuries and rare diseases cost a hell of a lot more than $110? See: Fett's post.
p.s. way to not read any of RBJ's posts.

No-one is going to lock you up, you're just going to have to pay a bit more in taxes. Why? Because
when you eventually DO get sick and suddenly decide you need more healthcare than just what you can afford out of pocket, you'll have to enter the high risk pool. The high risk pool only works if it's properly funded. It can only be properly funded if it's subsidized in some way by the people very people who will use it, ie. you.
There's not much more to say other than that you need to re-read fett's rather poignant post and grow up.
