Hey taffers, this is basically a heads up that myself and shadowman have teamed up and we're starting a couple of fm projects as of today, (spent all yesterday getting tooled up for the job and backing all my files up in case of a crash). These fm releases are hopefully going to be contenders for a decent rating *prays*(since neither of us have worked for any software development company like so many fm producers :-(. I've so far played through the Crypt and The Bridge, have to say my personal favourite is the Bridge, due to a few bugs in the Crypt and smallness of the level itself.
Just a suggestion, and there may be one in existence, but it'd be really helpful if someone compiled a list of up to date resources (weblinks) regarding essential downloads and tutorials since we spent most of yesterday trawling through alot of old posts to find sites still hosting the downloads and the locations of FM tutorials, and since you guys here know them like the back of your hand it may help fm newbies out abit.
Keep up the good fm work and hope to see more soon

Welcome aboard! :D It'll be nice to see more FMs getting released.
As for reference material, the wiki is great. Also check out Komag's tutorial. It seems to be the standard, so far. And, of course, this forum has been a great source of help for a lot of us. The more questions you post, the more we all learn!
For custom content, it would be best if you can get your hands on 3DS Max 5.1, but hopefully, Shadowspawn will eventually crack the .TIM file format to allow us to use other programs. In the meantime, Str8g8 has some custom content on his site to add some variety to our levels.

Cool, more people.
But do be careful what you plan/attempt: this is NOT UE2, and is not as capable (according to some, I haven't tried so can't judge) as DOOM3, so there's a lot of things you'll simply not be able to do how you want to.
Always the case when editing any game, but I state it all the same.
Good luck, build well, and we'll see your efforts up ahead.

Welcome!
I think a lot of FM authors actually don't work in software development, so no worries there. :)
As for links, most things are either on the wiki or are linked to from the wiki: (
