I'm a huge supporter of personal rights:
Not really, you're a supporter of
some personal rights, many of which don't exist according to current law.
Which is fair enough, but you can't have it both ways. If this dude throws a tantrum when his receipt is checked but then doesn't come to your defense if your neighbors attack your lawn care inadequacies, then he isn't a huge supporter of personal rights, either.

My point was, I'm not a meek law-abiding citizen of the sort you made me out to be. And I'm getting seriously tired of this argument in general, and you in particular. I originally objected to you jumping to conclusions about my character based on what I said in this thread, and then insulting me based on your erroneous conclusions. If you want to attack my argument, fine. Going beyond that to attack me personally is a shabby tactic. You'll notice I haven't drawn any conclusions about YOU, personally, in this thread. And I certainly wouldn't insult you if I had.

I'm kind of surprised your skin is so thin after so many years of this place, I draw one conclusion and wrap it in a joke and suddenly you're little miss persecuted. I've been a little rough around the edges because that's how I do  but the gloves ain't even off.
And on that topic I have yet to see anything to directly contradict my sole assumption you disagree with. At the very least, your stance is fairly hypocritical.
Having said that, dear god this topic ain't getting any more fresh.

OH GOD FUCK OFF FUCK OFF FUCK OFF
I seriously need a break from this place. :(

Yep, you must do.

Given all that, I still would have shown my receipt, and having called the police, ponied up my ID. Why? Because I don't give a shit about the "privacy" of my shopping bag, and I appreciate being able to call the fucking police in the first place.
You said earlier that you would let them look through your handbag, too. Would you still allow a search if you were carrying an item of a sort that the store sells, having purchased that item elsewhere, or on a previous visit to the same store?

That has happened to me before with a tag that wasn't deactivated properly. I really got lucky on that one.

Crap, I'm sorry, that was an inexcusably childish outburst. It's 2:00 a.m. and I can't sleep for thinking about it; that's how much this place means to me. I don't know what to say. I've been under a lot of stress, but that's no excuse. I guess I just don't handle arguments well. I talk big but I break easy (and then I run away sobbing with my arms and legs flailing about in a silly-looking manner.)
You're right, I've been here forever and I'm well aware of how it works. Christ, it's one of the main things I like about this place, the way no fools are suffered gladly, the way no quarter's given. I guess I just don't like it when I'm the fool on the receiving end. :erg:
Stitch: I'm on a diet, so no ice cream, but I wouldn't mind a nice game from Circuit City. I'll even pay your bail. :)
SE: or maybe just to be a big girl about it.
mopgoblin: a good point. Although things in my bag quickly get so covered in sticky residue, dust and bits of mysterious crap it's unlikely they'd be mistaken for freshly stolen booty. :D

Summary: You're already not wearing panties, and this conversation would have gone a lot more pleasantly if you were more receptive to the idea of lubing up.
