I found a pre-built on Newegg for a steal, and I am thinking it's the way to go. While not eactly my dream system, I can't even buy half the components for the price.
However, it has no video card. That in itself is fine - I prefer it - because now I can put in what I want to put in rather than getting bent over on price to 'upgrade', or being stuck with a shite card.
So to get to the point, what I wonder is, will the HDMI port on the back of newer video cards (Radeon 6xxx, GTX 5xx) also give me sound? I also wonder if it will be affected by the actual motherboard. From what I can tell it's an Asrock H61, so it had no HDMI on the board, but I can't figure out if the video card will give video only. I want to hook it up to my HDTV, so it's fairly importane. If I have to run audio separately it won't be the end of the world, but obviously the single HDMI is the way I'd rather go.
Also, I am considering a new PSU right away. What's a good wattage for an i3 with, say, a 6850 or 550Ti?

Yes, it will provide sound. My video card includes a sound card driver and shows up as such in Windows. I still use DVI for other reasons, mind you, so I haven't actually tested it fully.

As well as modern graphics cards having an inbuilt audio driver, many also have an audio-in internal connector where you can run a cable inside the PC from the soundcard to the graphics card. This means that if you have an awesome soundcard then you can still utilise it throught the HDMI port.
Of course, the graphics card's inbuilt audio is probably good enough for sound coming from a TV's speakers, but the internal audio connector is there for you to take advantage of if you have a quality sound card.

Linky to the pre-built?

I ended up with an H67 motherboard with an HDMI port. Since I won't be doing much gaming, at least for awhile, it seemed silly to get a discrete card, just to stream video from the internet. I assume it'll have sound since there's sound built into the board, but you know what happens when one assumes...
