Sorry I missed the above. The only problem with the engraving is it might make the resale value drop.
SubJeff on 8/1/2010 at 16:07
I'm not going to resell it. I've never sold a phone I've owned and used before so why start now? The only phone I will sell is the one I'll get on the new contract in a few months, but that's to partly recoup the cost of the Nexus One.
Its only been 2 days and I'm already impatient!!
Edit: Its been shipped already. Fast service. :thumb:

Actually, I've done a crapload of research now and am 100% sure my next phone is going to be Android powered.
Yeah, I know I'm extremely fickle when it comes to my gadgets and since buying a mobile phone is serious business I'm even moreso.
Sub Effect - I'm totally with the Android business now, I finally had a chance to play with a HTC Hero properly for a solid time and find the OS extremely capable and exactly what I've always wanted. In the mean time while we wait for the HTC Hero2 to be announced in Feb when I'll make my final decision; I'm very curious what you think of the Nexus as someone who seems to be with the gadget program...

[next week]Actually, I've done a crapload of research now and am 100% sure my next phone is going to be Windows Mobile powered.
Yeah, I know I'm extremely fickle when it comes to my gadgets and since buying a mobile phone is serious business I'm even moreso.
Sub Effect - I'm totally with the Win Mobile business now, I finally had a chance to play with some frackking Win Mobile thing that made me all gooey inside and starry eyed and find the OS extremely arousing. In the mean time while we wait for the HTC Hero2 to be announced in I'll faff about a bit more. I'm very bicurious and what you think of the Nexus will determine if I want itenough to make a damn decision. Hey, did you hear about the new Symbian phone? It's supposed to be[/next week]
Grrrrr.
:p
I expect it any day now - DHL have it and must bring it unto me. I'll tell you what I think but as RBJ says about his Droid, these things take a while to really bed in with because of all the tweaking you can do. I'll keep you posted though.

Got this bad boy at last. I'm still getting to grips with it and I have to set up my non-gmail emails and stuffs.
Immediate impressions are its very sexy, touch screen is as nice to use as any I've played with including HTC Hero and iPhone and the keyboard seems much more accurate than the Hero's (which was pretty frustrating). It's going to take me ages to get fully used to though as its such a tech step from my Blackberry Pearl (I actually felt a little sad as I took the SIM out of it for the last time, much as I had grown to be disappointed with it in truth its served me really well).
One thing that is really, really nice at the moment is the Voice to Text. 10 mins after turning it on for the first time I had an SMS "conversation" and I didn't have to type a thing. It's not 100% accurate, but it getting it wrong once or twice was much quicker and easier than faffing about with typing.
I'm struggling with at the moment is settings. I'm sure this is just lack of familiarity but since I like everything tweaked to my specific preferences I've been delving into settings and there are some things I just cannot find. They either aren't there or I'll find them later.
The contacts management tools will take a while to get used to as well. I wanted to merge 2 contacts (Tim and Tim2) and it seemed to have an easy shortcut but I'm confused as to how it works.
Off to surf for apps now.
No Chrome for Android? Not that the browser is bad but it's a bit strange (unless this is Chrome with a different skin).
thefonz on 16/1/2010 at 09:19
Have you considered win mobile 6.5? I hear that's the best new OS out there and one I'll be seriously considering :ebil:
Throw up some photos when you get a chance since the geek industry seems to have mixed feelings about the phone - not the hardware, more like the software and how it's strange google missed out lots of features like multi-touch or even Chrome as the browser.
I'm holding out for the HTC Hero 2 due Feb which looks like a sexy beast and might finally tear me away from my beloved Nokia N95 8GB.
SubJeff on 16/1/2010 at 10:33
Yes multi touch would be nice. Lack of it is not a deal breaker though. Apart from that I don't get software complaints; this is an Android phone that is slicker and faster than the Hero. What else did you expect?
I'm still tweaking atm. The big difference between this and an iPhone seems to be the apps. There are no where near as many and I'm in need of a good music player. The stock one is alright but I'd like something better.
