Recently, my mother decided to drag my siblings and I to a garage sale recently. I was standing around bored when I noticed what looked like some old computer games. Most of them were just stuff like a Jeopardy! game, and stuff like that. Not any real games. So I was going through the pile, when I noticed the gold edition of Thief. I had heard of the game before, but I didn't know too much about it other than that it was a stealth game. I've recently really gotten into the stealth genre, and, seeing as how it was only $10, I decided to get.
So I got home, installed it, and started it up. I clicked the "Play Intro" option at the Title Screen, because so intro scene had played. The screen went black for a split second before it returned to the title screen. I started playing the game, but there were no cut-scenes that would play. I looked it up, and ended up at the Thief FAQs on this site. None of the things I did that were listed there seemed to work. I found an installation guide of some sort, so I followed that. The guide said that installing the K-Lite Mega Codec Pack should allow me to see the Intro. Still nothing.
So, is there any other way to get this to work? I'll put up my system specs, in case they're needed.

Try right clicking and running the .exe as an admin. Also, do you have the ddfix patch installed?

The other thing to check is that the videos play outside of Thief (e.g. through media player). If that doesn't work then there may be a problems with the Indeo codac not being registered on your computer.

I just spent 6 HOURS last night, trying to get this game to run, and all I had to do was run as administrator XD How did I not think of that?! I feel like such an idiot now. Thanks Dresden!
