ive been playing arx for a few hours now getting really annoyed cant find this damn idol and idont know how to read these letters ive been finding around the place i went into the gobin place and talke to basically everyone and i went to this guard and told him to open the door he refused to so i killed him and raided the room for some chain mail and some torchs noone saw me murder this guard but as soon as i walk out a guard attacks me i kill him then kill 2 more guards and then gained a lvl hen i approched some goblin lords and kill one then my axe breaks and i had no other weapon so i grabbed some dead goblins mace and started mauling goblins and i killed them all then i was reading a walkthrough and i wasnt supposed to kill them i was supposed to get a key and i also killed the cook so i couldnt mix wine with the kings cookies so therefore i couldnt get into the secret passage have i messed up ????? can someone help me im stuck

[SPOILER]Hm, well, I hope u have a saved game from b4 ur genocide ;). The first thing you needed to do was talk to the king. In order to do that, you were supposed to put wine in the large thing of dough that the cook was using to prepare his food. The king would then go to his room (and if you were going to try to pick the lock and grab the magic leather leggings that give +6, instead of usual +3, do it b4 he goes there). Once he is there, u can tlak to him, ur guy flatters him a lot, and he opens the special room for you. However, hte chest with the idol in it is locked. Now who would want the king to lose his position..... *hint hint* ;). Well, if u havent found it, like I didnt at first, the key is hidden under the guy's pillow (he can be found down the hall from the chef, take 3 lefts. Once u have the key, simply go and grab hte idol from the chest. If you close the door so the guard doesnt see u, u can also grab anything else in there. Once u have the idol, go give it to the troll king (you might want to consider going around through all thier tunnels, just follow teh X signs, to get some gemstones, use a pickaxe to get em). Once u have given the idol to the knig, u can talk ot the goblin king adn he will let u buy gemstones from him (they are almost same price in arx though). Once u have done that, u can simply head back to the king to get your meager reward.[/SPOILER]

although to most entertaining way of playing arx is probably the least violent, the lovely people of Arkane do present you with the possibility to fight your way to every (I assume) solution.
since you've fought your way into the reservation, you don't really need the king anymore... however, you can probably still slip him a wine drenched pie (-use wine on pie-, -use pie on door to king's throneroom-) .
the idol is in the chest in the reservation. (the key can be found under a pillow in the dormitory)
