Or someone could just email you a saved-game attached at that part with the scene triggered if you just have to get past that one part and don't have a convienent prior save, although it would suck to lose whatever distinguished your own player since the game is RPG enough to make it noticable.

Right...while you might be able to get round this with flags, I don't know what other triggers that convo might contain, so your best bet would be to try and get that convo.
Now this may be a weee bit hacky, but have you tried simply summoning another Gordon in, next to Max Chen?
So press t, delete the 'say', type
set deusex.human.bcheatsenabled true
then press t again, delete the say, type
summon gordonquick
and try and talk to him.
If it turns out that the convo happened, but got interrupted or otherwise went bad, try this: (and this is a guess)
with cheats enabled (as above), press t, delete the say, type
legend
and this'll bring up the "behind the curtain" menu. Go to the edit flags section, and look for flags named "TriadCeremony_Played", and "TriadCeremony_Interrupted". If they're there, delete them.
Now try and have the convo again.
