I cannot seem to kill them, they just kick my ass all over and I die instantly. Is there a spell or something that is effective against them? I'm level 7. I have tried speeding up with magic armor, then fireballing them... and still... arg... any help would be appreciated....
sigh.

IIRC, two fireballs should do the trick. It worked for me when I was level 5 :)

It also helps to be a bit sneaky. You can get bonuses for it.

but I am still getting beaten like a red headed step child :)
I think it is because I am such the lame wizard... sigh

One fireball always does it for me, and I've invested most of my stat boosts in magic. The flipside is that I'm a little scared to go into the dwarven mines, which have antimagic fields.
Absynthe on 30/11/2002 at 15:21
Don't worry about the Dwarven mines too much. There is only one beasty to deal with down there and he's actually a PUZZLE not a combat situation.

In 90% of the cases, one fireball does it for me. Could be just the directness of the hit, but I find that walking right up to them and having the fireball explode prior to shooting off increases the chances of it being lethal tenfold. Similar with mummies and alike... Fire off a fireball and it damages them. Run up to them and release just prior to arrival and the explosion will take them out [and leave you on fire, but unharmed]. Fine with me, it works. :p
BTW, during one of the quests, one of the Arx city doors was unlocked [exit the castle, turn right, go straight, turn left to walk down the street. The first door on the right] and its cellar/sewer access was open. I decided to go there later and now it's closed again. What did I miss? :erg:

I've been using the Incinerate spell against them, while playing as a mage-like character.
Uncia on 16/12/2002 at 08:34
How exactly do you use that one? I've only managed to successfully use it on peaceful NPCs so far [mmm, many cheers of joy were heard when that guard burst into flames :cheeky: ], but when I tried it on a Lich [sp], the reticle didn't give me a "usable item" over it. Maybe I just wasn't paying attention...
twisty on 16/12/2002 at 09:24
Yeah, thats exactly what your meant to do. When the cursor changes to the useable icon, click on the intended victem and run away until the spell has its effect.
