Have you ever had a dream that... - by Ringer

My dreams rarely take place within the realms of believable reality - if they don't involve video games and science fiction outright (which most of the ones I can remember do), they're surreal and would make FANTASTIC plays if I could remember the exact dialogue for more than a few minutes after waking up.
I did have a dream the other night where I realized I was dreaming. And so all the threatening things in the dream I just told off, because I knew they weren't real. Then I woke up, but I didn't REALLY woke up - I just dreamt I woke up.

My dreams are so vivid and real I almost prefer sleeping to waking life.
I never dream about stupid, crazy shit, like monsters, or Space Plays, or video games. It's always real life, just living it, but in the most awesome capacities. Literally, living out my dreams.
It's sad when I wake up.
However, I do know exactly what you mean, Ringer, I used to have dreams like that all the time. Normally, a fantasy or hope you've had is fulfilled and as you suspected your brain is making those endorphins flow. It's like free extacy.

I had the same dream twice several months after my husband died: I dreamt that he'd just walked in the front door and I was so ecstatic to see him that I'd start laughing like a loon. Then I would suddenly remember (in the dream) that I'd not only already given away his dresser, but all his clothes as well and became embarassed when I had to explain to him why I gave his stuff away. The embarassment would last a few moments after waking and each time I actually laughed afterwards because I knew that that type of dream would have tickled his funny bone (and he would have teased me unmercifully).
I've also had dreams where I could fly and would wake up feeling strangely exhilerated.

Yes.
Had to do with breaking up with someone whom I, if I had managed to straighten out and get my own act together, should have been with forever.
Dreamt that she was here and the joy of simply having her there to hold onto used to make me smile so much that it (as I used to say in real life) "made my face hurt."
Did the same thing in the dreams.
That dream used to come and go for quite some time.
Life is good now, but that's something I still think about.

Yeah, I've had those. I've had one that I cant remember what it was about but I was completly content and happy about somthing or another, then woke up and totally crashed.
It was such a quick change it totally ruined my entire day, a terrible feeling to have been more happy than you can probably even be in normal life and to come down from that in a matter of seconds and realize it was all totally gone.

Have you ever had a dream that immediately after you wake up half way through(as you always do) you have the most joyous feeling you have ever experienced???
No.

But you read about it once, on the thought-provoking website of a failed Russian political activist in exile

Hrm. I practically have to fight my own brain to remember any dreams, and a good deal of them are unpleasant... but some are pretty neat, even the 'bad' ones.
I did have one dream that could qualify for this thread, though. I've owned birds most my life and I've seen them die as well. After the most recent death, I had a dream in which I held each of my dead birds in my hands, felt life and warmth flutter back into them through my fingers, and watched each of them fly away.

Ever had the weird feeling when you wake up that it's 'strange' to be alive? I can't explain it, it's like you've been sucked out of nothingness and for a split second wonder what this 'thinking' and 'being' sensation is.

I have never had a dream from which I woke up insanely happy, but I constantly have dreams in which I truly feel that I am floating above my body, and then suddenly wake up completely shocked and confused, similar to what Fascist described.
Also, I have had a lot of dreams where I woke up in a completely terrified state and unable to grasp what is wrong. I would sometimes awake with this feeling after experiencing a horrible sensation, such as my arm being pulled out of its socket for example. This usually happens without any sort of nightmare.
