I, uh... just collected all of the sermons of Vivec... and, er, instinctively... I read them... and all I can say is... what the fuck?
Anybody have a good synopsis of the sermons that makes a little bit of fucking sense, or possibly a good way to flush good ol' number 29 out of my memory? That fucking list and all those numbers... burned onto my retina... I think I need professional help.

I'm just as lost as you are, MB. Some people over on the elderscolls.com forums enjoy discussing them for ages and teasing all sorts of bizarre meanings out of them, but frankly I can't be bothered. There's such a thing as being too obscure.
The only thing I've learnt from them is that Vivec is a bit of a headcase, but you can tell that from just looking into his eyes. (And I say that as someone who's very fond of him) :p

So do you have to put the entire thing through a cipher like you need to do with the Package for Caius Cosades, Sotilde's Code Book, and the Redoran Intelligence Memo?

The sermons themselves aren't actually in code, they're just mind-bogglingly weird, but there is a code running through them. Sermon 29 is the key.....I think you're supposed to take the numbers, and count to that number word in each of the other sermons. String all those words together and you get a message about Vivec which sheds some light on the whole Red Mountain affair.
Fairly easily done if you have Word and the word count feature, but I haven't so I found it out on the elderscrolls.com forums.....there was at least one very long thread about it there, and someone eventually told everyone else what it was.
I can point you to that thread if you like, tell you what the secret message is? I can't be doing with all this "oh no I'm not going to tell you the answer it'll be much more satisfying if you work it out for yourself" crap.

So... uhm... you gals and guys read a lot of the in-game books? I mean... I must admit I've tried, but unfortunately I've given up very soon. I'm aware I might be missing something, and I might come back to reading them... but I'll probably do it in a compact form, like on a website or from within the editor.

Xanathar has all the books in HTML format. The Real Barenziah is a must-read, especially the old (uncensored) Daggerfall version... heh...
"That hurt!"

Yup, and there is a reference to that in the brothel in Suran. Only if you play a male Khajiit, though!

I've read quite a lot of the books in Morrowind. Unfortunately, it's mostly stories. But I enjoyed those well enough. I've got a bookcase full of them. ;)

A link to somewhere with the books in html/text format would be cool? linkey anyone?
