If you haven't, go buy it right now, period. This game feels like EA made System Shock 3 and called it something else (they do own the rights anyway). I find this game is MUCH better, and more SS2-like, than BioShock. I would love to hear what some of you think...I'm only about three hours in and love it, but it provides much more customization, scares, and interesting events than BioShock.
The game just came out a few days ago and is available on 360, PS3, and PC.

I think somebody hasn't really played SS2.
Dead Space is primarily a shooter, with some minor inventory mechanics and upgrades thrown in. I think it's far closer to Bioshock than SS2.

I've played System Shock 2 at least four times, one of them very recently. I'm well aware of what SS2 is. SS2 was primarily a shooter as well by the way.

yeah i got it yesterday, its REALLY inspired by system shock 2. its no sequel by any means, just really heavily inspired by.

I'm about half way in waiting for the story to kick in....was NOT this way in System Shock 2.:erm:

It doesn't need to be System Shock 2 to be influenced by it. There are a lot of difference, but there's a good amount that's similar. Such as weapon upgrades, audio logs, the 'psi' power system, the inventory system, and so on. Even parts of the story are similar to System Shock 2.
I'm in Chapter 5 and loving it so far.

I just finished it.. And i loved every minute of it ! It reminds me of my first playthrough of System Shock 2.. And it is really inspired by SS2 thats for sure ! And to me this is more a "sequel" to SS2 than bioshock ever was..
One of the best shooters i have been playing since System Shock 2 !
