I apologize if this doesn't belong here, but this seemed the most appropriate place to post it;
Some time back, I registered at the Eidos forums, which appear to be using the same software as here. I entered my email, was sent a confirmation email and followed the directions to verify my email address. The board told me that me address had been validated, but the little box at the bottom said that I couldn't post anything. I thought maybe an administrator would have to personally approve my account, so I didn't think too much of it. I went back a couple times, but never had posting access.
I went back a few weeks ago, and my account is still read only. I sent email to the address for the forum administrator and it bounced with a message stating there was no such address. I used the contact form and emailed Eidos, informing them of this and they said they'd forward my message to the appropriate people. That was at least 2 weeks ago and there's no change.
Here's where it gets really starnge; The other day I registered at another forum using this same software (at least it appears to be the same) and the exact same thing happened. I followed the link in the email, was told that my account had been validated, but I'm not allowed to post! I've sent email to the admin, but haven't received a reply yet.
Does anyone have any idea why this might be happening? I use an older version of Explorer, 5.01 (because I've been told that 5.5 and 6.0 have problems under Windows 98), but that shouldn't make any difference. The forums recognize me from the cookies on my system (I've also tried logging in manually) and put my name at the top of the page as being logged in, but they won't give me posting access.
When I registered here, I had no problems at all and could post as soon as I validated my email.
Any ideas?

That's a very common problem at Eidos. It happens to lots of people. If you'd like, I can PM Grey Mouser for you and see if he can get you fixed up. Send me a PM if you'd like me to contact him. :)
