Yeah! That's the kind of stuff I was hoping to see. :D

I didn't realize only the mackerel was available. I've been enjoying the game a lot more with the casual mode but I'm starting to wish for more variety. Hope it's coming soon.
There is a bigger ship type too, the Gecko, and of course they both have a few variants. I first took appart the Gecko in Free Play mode just to get familiar with it and it took me 70 min to get a good grip on it, finding all the important bits and figuring out how to get them out. Just managed to nearly 100% one of them, took me 4 sessions I think. Made 4.7Mill during one of them, which is the most I've ever made.
Btw I'm rank 7 right now, a few electrical components away from rank 8. I own my own helmet, thrusters, and scanner.

I can now scrap one of these lil fishies in one shift. 2 shifts for the Hard variant.

A fun watch! I liked how, when you were steering the ship frame toward the incinerator, the lyrics went "I give it the mass."

Hah, I didn't even notice that. It's "I'm givin' a mass" in the religious sense, but yeah it takes on a new meaning in this context. :)

The latest update included a time trial mode and I've played through it a few times, but the best I can manage is #153 on the leaderboard. I thought I was getting pretty good at this game after 42 hours with it, but then you look at some of the real pros and holy shit.

TETHER GAME IS OFF DA HOOK! Gotta admit I never got into the habit of tethering multiple objects to eachother but from this video it's undeniably very useful. Also playing with M+KB is a real advantage when it comes to speed, but I perfer the feel of playing with a gamepad.

Hardspace Shipbreaker just released its biggest update yet. Version 0.4.0 overhauls and fleshes out the campaign, apparently. Sadly this also means removing earlier progress, which, as someone with 68 hours in the game, having reached rank 10, bought most of my own equipment and paid off nearly half of my billion dollar debt, kinda smarts. They do provide the option to keep playing in in v0.3.1 with my old save, buuuut, yeah I guess I'll start over. I haven't tried the new content yet, and I'm not really sure how to feel about so much focus being put on the story. I play HS purely for the gameplay. In fact I usually tune out any story bits I come across so I can keep listening to podcasts while I slice away.
The game is on (
https://store.steampowered.com/app/1161580/Hardspace_Shipbreaker/) a -30% sale right now. I see dema's picked it up. How ya liking it, dema?

Well it's clearly something you have to learn the art of. My first time out was a pretty gory hack job. I get the idea half of the game is just learning how to optimize your way through, and the other half is being in control of your & everything else's momentum. I can understand your sentiment that it's better as a sim you get into the flow of than a story-based game you progress through. I like sims, so that's a plus in my book.

Hardspace Shipbreaker came out in v1.0 last week, and is on a (
https://store.steampowered.com/app/1161580/Hardspace_Shipbreaker/) -25% sale for another week!
The big addition over previous EA versions are some more ship types, improved progression-unlocks, and a full storymode! Putting a storymode into a simmy game like this seems like it'd be tricky, and indeed I've seen some people complain about the lack of player agency in the story, but I gotta say I liked it a lot! It certainly was more engaging than most videogame narratives, and I like how it wrapped up. I've now played 111 hours of this, making it my 3rd most played game on Steam after ARMA3 and Frozen Synapse. If that's not an endorsement I dunno what is. This is a great game, and I highly recommend it! :thumb:

That's what I've been waiting for! I hope it works on Linux.
One of my dream games is an immersive-sim game on a derelict spaceship, your goal being to repair it, but with repairs based on actual engineering, not "click item X on object Y." Shipbreaker is... kinda the opposite idea, but it looks like it'll scratch the same itch.
