I remember having my very first PC (1998) for only 2 weeks, when I screwed directx on it, and couldn't run Virtua Fighter 2 anymore (hey, that was my only game back then :eek:). I had much software archived on drive D: and no backup CDs. And I had seen PCs only for... eh, 2 weeks.
So, not knowing anything, I sought an advice from a friend (who didn't know much more than me, btw).
He said something like - "... setup...format...C:...reinstall from archived software on D:...".
So I entered setup and did a reformat.
I entered setup by pressing DEL... and the format I did was actually named Low Level Format.

That is what we call User Error :)
My father pulled the same stunt when he tried to install a sound card when I was younger into my PC. He kept playing with settings when I finally gave him the hint to check the volume on the speakers.
