What exactly is up with everyone saying that this is the end of the decade? The Gregorian calender has no year 0, so the first A.D. year would be 1, meaning the decade would run from 2001 to 2010.

It's not just you. I can't count the number of times I've heard people on television saying the same thing.
It happened with the millennium, too. It didn't start in 2000, but 2001. Maybe I'm being overly picky, but it bothers me.

You can count a decade or millennium from whatever date you want. 1999>2000 is a significant milestone, whether Pope Gregory agrees or not, as is 200x to 201x.
What do you care anyway, you're not going to get crunk or laid tonight either way.
