When I heard the news, it just felt wrong. Not inhumane, cruel, or whatever else you could put there. It just felt wrong.
I've always been ambivalent on the whole death-penalty-thing. Sometimes I feel it justified, some other times not. But I think that no one should feel proud of the death of someone else. I also believe that this won't change a thing for the people of Iraq, and the people of America will still be under the threat of extremists.
I just hope that next year Iraqis will have a safer year, no thanks to the occupation forces over there.

Taking another person's life in this manner
is wrong. The fact that Saddam is familiar to you presumably means that on this occasion you are able to throw off the shackles of ambivalence and empathise with him as a human being, rather than just viewing him as another faceless criminal.

Rush and hush? I assume you're referring to the speed the execution was carried out with, and the level of secrecy surrounding it?
If you're insinuating some sort of conspiracy theory, forget it. There's amateur footage of the execution flying around if you really want to see that sort of thing. He's definitely dead.
