I've been using H2H for 10 hours of gameplay to help me level up. Once you get it to 60+ or so you can do quite a bit of damage, and it's really hilarius to see someone get knocked down by the hit. I've been punching everything from WOW's to Lichs and it's just as effective.

How much damage do you do, exactly? Are you using any mods? I had Hand-to-Hand up to the 50s and was still getting my butt kicked by wolves.

With hand to hand fighting it's not about the pure damage you do alone but how well you dodge and weave, block and counter as well as good uses of the power attacks (I found attacking an enemy that constantly blocks with a forward or standing power attack will stager them better then when they don't block. Just don't use a regular attack or you'll stumble back and be pounded on for the next two seconds.). With wolves either block their attack, or wait for their attack 'flinch' and dodge left or right, then give em two or three good punches to the face or just one power attack if you feel like you can get away with it. If you have a big speed and athletics stat you can get away with weaving back and forth, left and right attacking without ever getting hit.
One thing you should watch for are critters with damage reflect (clanfears(sp?) are really bad. Their forward power attacks are impossible to dodge with normal and slightly higher speed and athletics and every attack you do will damage you as well. If you started as a monk then you should have restoration as a main so you could use health absorb on them). The benefits of using hand to hand is that you will always have your fists. In jail? Punchout! Chicks stole your stuff? Punchout! Your adoring fan keep shining your weapons when you really need em? Punchout! :D It takes a lot of moving round, blocking, dodging and finally good usage of power attacks to use hand to hand, but damn does it look good when you completely RAPE a small platoon of bandits with just your fists.

damn, I was destroying Vampires, Wolves, Bears, Bandits, etc at level 50 H2H. It is very satisfying.
