I happen to be visiting Krakow at the moment and thought I'd share a few pictures. Mostly just random snaps, but gives an idea what the place is like.

Overall I'm very impressed with the place. I don't think I've seen a city centre with no modern buildings in it
at all before.
Also, the beer is cheap, which is always good...

The church looks dark and foreboding from a distance, but up close it's actually quite festive.

It is probably the tree that gives the spooky effect.
Haven't seen any weird posters yet mind you - will take a picture if I spot one.

Simply gorgeous! Thank you. I wish more cities looked like this. Maybe I wouldn't hate them so much, then.

HALF LIFE 2'D.
Seriously though, those are some nice photos. I love Eastern European architecture and in particular, the atmosphere. I'm in the process of getting a photoblog up and running (to complement my current "down under" blog and my writing blog), when I do, I'll post a bunch of photos from my time in Prague.
Amazing city. Simply amazing. Due to their stalwart refusal to redevelop the centre of the city, you have a complete host of beautifully medieval buildings and cobbled streets, sprawling squares and churches that are past their former glory but manage to achieve a very respectable delapidation.
Given the fact that I'd been reading GRRM when I went over there, when I was sitting drinking hot wine in a street where the temperature was -10oC and I'd just eatien a slab of venison served with roasted vegetables and a fig sauce, I FELT LIKE A MAN, RARRR, PROPER MEN. The world seemed more real than ever and you felt like a fragile part of it.
Anyway, love those photos - enjoy Poland.
