Yes, thanks. But now the ring does not work on the skeleton hand. I'll just give up on this one.
Sorry you are giving up. Just out of curiosity did you patch to version 1.18 before patching to v1.19?

Don't give up Marbrien, you'll miss out on all the fun! :cheeky:
I use Windows XP, Service Pack 2 and the FM ran fine.
I had T2 1.18 and upgraded to 1.19, followed all the instructions, including the downloading of the necessary components from Microsoft's website - this is vital, I got the DLL error message without it.

Yes, I have done all of that. I started with v1.18, read the instructions, did the upgrade to v1.19. Then I had the missing DLL problem, then I had a problem where the screen was too dark and I couldn't adjust the gamma. The advice on the v1.19 thread cured both those problems, but I cannot finish this FM, and I'm now wondering whether all 1.19 FMs will be problematic for me.

I have a same problem as clearing and cattamer, but even using Darkloader.
I can chose Trick Or Treat, run the mission, but original first Thief 2 mission starts instead.
Same with me, I can chose Trick or Trick but game crashes to desktop. I've already fixed the d3dx9 problems and the LGVID.AX problems I already had so the game gets through Darkloader now. I am able to run other FM's like Pestis Cruenta with no problem using V1.19 but Mech Angelo (also made for V1.19) crashes to desktop after choosing difficulty and trying to load. I reloaded T2 from the original disks, Tafferpatcher, all NOT under Program Files and then the new V1.19. Usually when something similar like this happened before the game was trying to load a video. Any suggestions?

If the game was trying to load a video, then move the LGVID.ax file to a named folder in your t2 directory.
example:LGVID.Ax_null

I did that, but did I do it correctly? Renaming it and moving it to another directory gets me a failure in Darkloader "LG Renderer Direct Show filter was not installed, and the file LGVID.AX can't be found" which I would expect since I have now moved it to another directory. Before, when I had LGVID.AX in the directory Darkloader would unzip the tell tale heart file and install it up to the point of picking Trick or Treat, and after that it tries to load I get the MS error and it crashes to desktop. I thought that maybe I had an incomplete zip file but I've downloaded it a few times with the correct size (262,754,171). I'm thinking along the lines that the program is trying to load something it cannot find and crashes but unfortunatey does not give an error message with some kind of clue. Note: while still having V1.19 installed I used Darkloader to unzip Cathedral of St Vincent (another great mission of yours) and it starts right up into the game.

Have you tried fm-selector that came with the NewDark package ?
I have no idea what is happening, but you are probably right, it is looking for something that cant be found.
Thanks for the compliment, Pedro and myself, worked pretty hard on CSV, might consider later when the NewDark is more popular to convert that to v1.19 with Pedro's permission.
It might be a good idea to look in your T2 directory and check for loose fm folders. One that would interfere with loading would be Strings>missflag.Str

I've only installed contrib and new_dark zip files. There are two others contrib_src & editor which I am guessing are for the fm-selector. Are there any instructions for this or should I try to do it blind? I'm guessing it is just a matter of unzipping the files in certain directories, I'm just not sure if it should be new ones should be created. If it's anything like darkloader you able to setup where the zip files are, and where the thief is installed.

Thanks for the tip. I'll look into it. I also loved Cataclysmic Revelations and Deadly Triangle, btw.
