I must be missing something then. I had used the time machine, input the 2014 code, and I went into this vortex, but afterward I was still in the same place :(

Ok I'm done everything, but I need to leave by the city gate. Where is it? I came back the way came all the way, but the mission didn't end...
EDIT: Never mind, it checked out after I reloaded

I've hit the same bug I think but I haven't had any problems with the screen freezing. Everything has worked beautifully up until now. The first time I went into the tomb I got the
energy balls shooting across the tomb but I didn't think to use the scalpel. I came here to look for help, read about it, smacked myself on the head and went back to do it properly. However, I've restarted from a save several times and
I get the speech from the ghostly guardian but no energy balls and I can't use the scalpel on the heart. Any ideas of how to proceed??

Keep setting the body across it. It should automaticaly line up!
I also had the freezes! It seemed to only happen when going from one area to another with different sounds. One example would be walking up the tunnel from the lab and rentering the catacombs. It only did it a few times like it was loading. Then it stopped happening!

No suggestions? I'd really like to finish this and I'd rather not play it from the start only to have the same end result. I've cleaned out most of the undead up until this point, I'm playing on Expert. Is there anybody who's got a similar save AFTER getting the heart? If so, I'd appreciate if you'd send it to me so I can continue with the mission.

I must be the only one stuck on this problem... so I must frob this so called switch on the chimney, but I can't climb onto the brick chimney stack itself, i assume the switch is inside the wooden part? because i can see no switch on the square sides of the chimney... Thanks for any help!
EDIT: Nevermind, I found the answer. It is: the cloud of yellow/blue smoke by the bed, if you turn up your sound, you can hear him say, there's a switch in the chimney, at first i thought this meant outside on the rooftop, but then realised it could mean the chimney stack inside the apartment, lo and behold, on the side of the chimney a switch!
