If any of you loved the card game in The Witcher 3 as much as me (or even half as much if I'm honest), then you'll be interested in (
https://www.playgwent.com/en/) the standalone version they are making and more than that, you might be interested in signing up for the beta :)

Here is an interesting story, I purchased Witcher 3 in the recent steam discount a couple of weeks ago, then 2 days later my video card decided to die, reducing me to using an old card I had lying around. Needless to say it is way below spec to run the game. However I did play the first few hours of the game before that and Gwent is awesome, totally all over this. (Especially as I am a Hearthstone fanatic)
Now I have to wait until my tax return to buy a new card, which is at least 4 weeks away #firstworldproblems

YES. I went through TW3 two times leaving Gwent aside, and then got sucked right into it during my current playthrough. It's awesome.

But why is it named after a Welsh county?

Same reason the main boss in Dark Souls is Welsh I guess.

I've only just played the introduction to Gwent, so I'd agree it's not a bad mini game. Beats skystones in Skylanders. I also like it more than Hearthstone. To be honest I'm not sure how the computer based card game gets popular as a stand alone product. Seems like an excuse to charge money for virtual cards.

I never got card games before either, but got completely hooked on Gwent in TW3. So did a lot of people I'm guessing else I doubt they'd be making a standalone.
