That guy must live in an insane country.
I've never seen someone carrying a gun for personal protection in Spain. And I don't know a single person who has a weapon at home.
But that's the price you have to pay if you live in places where violence is the rule. So sad.

Which guy are you referring to?
Oh wait, never mind.

Hey come on guys, all I wanted was to see if anyone in the community was also a gun owner. No need to get negative about it.
Unfortunately, there are a lot of people with propagandized minds, who sheepishly give up their right to personal liberty and defense, with the delusion that effective security and protection will be handled by a third party with a monopoly of legal force. This form of cultural brainwashing is dominant throughout Europe, and sadly is even present to some degree in the United States...To these people, the idea of owning a gun generates an emotionally negative response, due to this misguided social conditioning.

Yeah I know. I was actually kinda for gun control before traumatic events made me realize that in those split second moments, it is up to me to take action. It is none of my business to change a person's mind over something and insult them on what they believe in and I should expect others to do the same.

Why is it that some people can't accept the fact that a contrary opinion can be formed honestly and logically? It's always "either you see things my way, or you're one of the brainwashed sheeple, programmed by the drivel mainstream media force feeds you, turning you into an unthinking automaton of the state." You're not gonna be winning any supporters with that attitude, cuz goddamn, it's almost as condescending as Duck when he's talking about Mexico.

Both of you are right in your perspectives. Could we at least find common ground on what we ALL do agree on? :)

It's not the guns that bother me. It's some of the dipshits I see with guns that give me concern.
Like that guy I read about the other day. He's one of the usual in-your-face open carry people. You know the type. Walks around Wal-Mart with an AR-15 strapped on his back, like some soldier proudly returning home after his tour in the great Mall Food Court Demilitarized Zone. He's doing some shopping at Lowes, when he hears the shoplifter alarm go off. At that moment, he decides to do the right thing, to be one of those fabled Good Guys With A Gun. He rushes out to the parking lot, pops out his gun, and starts wildly firing at the two kids fleeing the scene.
Their crime? Stealing about $20 worth of merchandise.
His crime? Brandishing and firing a weapon multiple times in a crowded public space.
He made himself more of a menace than the actual criminals he was going for. Fortunately, no one was hurt. Though for all the good intentions, his efforts only served to earn him about 6 months in the county clink.
It's not the guns I have a problem with. I have 4 hand-me-down rifles and a revolver myself. But some people really don't possess the mental capacity to own and handle a firearm responsibly.
TheDarkOne93 on 20/5/2016 at 03:43
Oh absolutely. Most of the time I carry my 45 on my hip openly and I make sure retention is good before leaving my home or vehicle. If you present yourself as an adult then there is no problem. The circumstance you mentioned, which I do know about, was irresponsible. All it boils down to is that you or someone else is being hatmed or being threatened with harm, then you should take proper action.

The only problem I have with gun ownership is when people try to justify it for reasons other than "I like guns".
