No yet, cos I just wanted to say that in Perth, Australia the live music scene is dismal compared to what you USians are saying. A top cover band here is lucky to be playing 3 nights a week, making roughly between 100-130 bucks(a night that is). Thats why I am fully into teaching these days, I just cant make enough money playing the live circuit.
Also, Fett, if you have any original stuff online like a website or such, I would love to hear it.

Dude, you've heard the results when Christians try to rock.

Yes, it all sounds like Stryper. Except for the lyrics about raping your sister.

Hrm...difficult. I've got two indie things 'out' but can't really distribute due to some legal stuff w/ the producer right now. Hopefully soon.

As a follow up, I found (
http://digitalmusic.weblogsinc.com/2005/12/16/warner-chappell-apologizes-to-pearlyrics/) this story, where it appears that Warner-Chappel put their dick back in their pants...
In part:
Quote:
While PearLyrics lacked the legal guns to call Warner-Chappell's bluff, the Electronic Frontier Foundation's Fred Von Lohmann wasn't intimidated. In a widely circulated letter to W/C, he noted that "pearLyrics does not violate U.S. copyright law and that any legal threats by Warner/Chappell against U.S. software developers in connection with software similar to pearLyrics could expose Warner/Chappell to legal action in U.S. federal courts."

Well, its fucking happened again, the MPA has shut down the Powertabs archive site, and various mirrors. THIS IS SHIT I DONT NEED THIS SHIT AGAIN. Also, the live scene has picked up since this old thread, I am now playing in a girl vocal group (as the backline) for a minimum of $200 per gig, which isnt too bad.
Man I totally rely on the powertab archive for my teaching, its a really harsh thing to realize I might have to start transcribing all the shit I need. The thing is, I could teach anything from Carpathian to Kenny Rogers in one day, its that style of 'anything goes' which is my stock in trade, which keeps students coming back.
I notice the Ultimate-Guitar tab site is still around, apparently its due to the servers being located in Russia or something, however, that site is full of insane pop-ups, and highly inaccurate transcriptions.
all in all, bullshit. BULLSHIT.
BAH

It's amazing what companies will go to for the promise of a buck. Will this stop people using tab sites and start buying more official tab books? No. It will just make them use other sites and grumble about how the MPA sucks balls.

powertabs was the best site ever :( I even had an opeth tab up there :(
i officially quit the world; see you all when the next best thing comes around :( :(
